It started with one after-school club
Lumicate began in 2019 as a small after-school leadership club in High Wycombe. What started with a handful of teenagers quickly grew, because parents saw a change in their children and schools saw it in their classrooms.
Today we work with families and schools across Buckinghamshire, but our approach has not changed. We meet young people where they are, give them real responsibility, and cheer them on as they grow into it.
To make leadership accessible to every young person
We believe leadership should not be reserved for the loudest voice or the head prefect. Our mission is to give every 12 to 18 year old the tools, the encouragement and the safe space to lead, in whatever way is authentic to them.
Not another motivational talk
Plenty of programmes tell young people to believe in themselves. We give them the reps to actually do it.
Age-specialists, only
We work exclusively with 12 to 18s. Every activity, example and conversation is pitched for where teenagers really are.
Practice over theory
Our sessions are hands-on and challenge-based. Young people lead teams, run projects and present, with support at every step.
Safeguarding first
Every mentor is DBS-checked and safeguarding-trained. Parents and schools can trust the environment we create.
